In preparation for the new version of First Touch Soccer we recently had a session at the world renowned Audiomotion studios in Oxford. Audiomotion are Europe’s leading motion capture service provider. They’re a multi-award winning studio, specialising in the provision of motion capture services to the Game Development, Film, TV and Music industries. Examples of their work include Iron Man 2, Gladiator, Killzone and work on several high profile music videos. They’re a great bunch of guys too, just as happy working with small indies like us, as they are with the big budget high profile guys. Anyway we got some excellent animations (who needs Messi!?) in our session, and they will no doubt add additional realism to FTS2012. We … Continue reading
Yesterday, Quality Index announced their top 10 iOS games of 2011, with First Touch Soccer being listed at number 7 with an average score of 9.2/10 from 6 reviews. Here’s the full list: http://iphone.qualityindex.com/news/18255/qis-top-10-iphone-games-and-apps-of-2011 We’re alongside some fantastic titles in that list, sitting just behind Infinity Blade II and Where’s My Water, and ahead of Jetpack Joyride. First Touch Soccer is the most critically acclaimed title the team has had, and this is a great achievement. QualityIndex tracks media reviews, but also importantly it takes into account App Store user reviews. FTS is currently averaging 4.5 stars in the US app store which gives solid confirmation of the media reviews.
Unfortunately some people lost data during the upgrade to v1.30. This is a guide to recovering lost data if you have a recent backup. Recovering Lost Data from a backup iTunes features easy access to both making and restoring back-ups, and so getting your data back should be pretty straight forward. If you have recently backed up your device then try the following to recover data: 1. Upgrade FTS to V1.31 update, either wirelessly or by connecting your device to your PC/Mac. 2. With your device connected to your PC/Mac, open iTunes, right click your device as it appears under ‘Devices’ in the iTunes side bar. 3. You will see an option to backup your device. Do this now, which … Continue reading
So today’s update to First Touch Soccer by most accounts hasn’t gone very well. Custom Team Data The first issue is that the update caused some people to lose all their edited custom team data. As I’m writing this we’re putting together a build with a fix ready to submit to Apple. This is incredibly disappointing for us though, particularly now we’re aware of what was happening. The issue is that when certain teams had been edited (some of the all star and classic teams), the data set would fail the validation tests, and be treated as corrupt data. Those most likely to have made changes to so many teams are our most loyal fans and biggest contributors to the … Continue reading
Welcome to the Edit Team Data Guide for First Touch Soccer. As of version 1.2 we have included the ability to import kits & share all custom asset links via email, including team logos (previously unavailable). We have changed the layout of the Edit Team Data flow so that each team can now be individually edited through its own screen (see below) & also reset individually to their defaults. Within this screen you can edit the team name, player names, import logos & import kits. Importing logos remains the same, simply copy and paste the URL of the logo you want (maximum 512×512) and press the arrow in bottom right hand corner. Importing kits works similarly, but you will need … Continue reading

We’ve seen a fair few comments in recent days about Game Center, and particularly that we should stop using Game Center and build our own online system as some other games have done. Some of you may be know that we did build a small online system for X2 Soccer 2010, and through this online play was possible. This had reasonable success, but was a fairly small system with very limited functionality, and was actually a very large investment in terms of development and the associated infrastructure. For First Touch Soccer, we took an early decision to support Game Center. Major consoles such as the 360, PS3 and Wii have platform holder provided online systems (Live, PSN etc.), and GC … Continue reading
