FTG May Update

Another long gap between blog entries, but we’re about to announce and release our new game, so I thought it about time we wrote something. So firstly what have we been up to? Snowboarding Back in March we released Fresh Tracks Snowboarding, which was a bit of a change for us, but has had a great reception. Myself and a couple of guys from First Touch Games were fortunate enough to visit Wembley to watch the first game of the Stuart Pearce era as England manager (and possibly the last). Overall it is hard to argue with the result. The Netherlands played some breathtaking football at times. The technical brilliance of Sneijder, the trickery of Robben and the persistence of Kuyt would give any team in the World a run for their money. You have to give the make-shift England defence some credit for keeping these players and the World class Van Persie quiet for large periods of the game. First Touch Games 10k Run for Special Effect

Come July 2012 5 team members of First Touch Games will be running in the annual 10k London run for SpecialEffect. SpecialEffect is a charity dedicated to helping ALL young people with disabilities to enjoy computer games, so its for an extremely good cause! MoCap Session at AudioMotion

In preparation for the new version of First Touch Soccer we recently had a session at the world renowned Audiomotion studios in Oxford. Audiomotion are Europe’s leading motion capture service provider. They’re a multi-award winning studio, specialising in the provision of motion capture services to the Game Development, Film, TV and Music industries. Examples of their work include Iron Man 2, Gladiator, Killzone and work on several high profile music videos. They’re a great bunch of guys too, just as happy working with small indies like us, as they are with the big budget high profile guys. FTS #7 in QualityIndex top iOS games of 2011

Yesterday, Quality Index announced their top 10 iOS games of 2011, with First Touch Soccer being listed at number 7 with an average score of 9.2/10 from 6 reviews.       Here’s the full list: http://iphone.qualityindex.com/news/18255/qis-top-10-iphone-games-and-apps-of-2011 We’re alongside some fantastic titles in that list, sitting just behind Infinity Blade II and Where’s My Water, and ahead of Jetpack Joyride. First Touch Soccer is the most critically acclaimed title the team has had, and this is a great achievement. QualityIndex tracks media reviews, but also importantly it takes into account App Store user reviews. FTS is currently averaging 4.5 stars in the US app store which gives solid confirmation of the media reviews.

Mini review of 2011

It’s a bit late, but here’s a quick review of 2011 from First Touch Games. Here are the highlights … The biggest change of the year was that we started life as Team First Touch, part of Exient, and finished as fully independent First Touch Games. We released First Touch Soccer in May. FTS was without doubt the team’s biggest achievment of 2011. It was critically acclaimed, currently with a metacritic score of 90%, which I think it the highest reviewing game I’ve been involved in.
