Score! wins TIGA Award

Score!

We’re delighted to have been awarded the TIGA award for Best Casual Game (small studio) for Score! at last Thursday’s TIGA awards down in Bath. It’s really capped a great year for us, and hopefully can lead to bigger and better things. Score! started out last year just after we had shipped Dream League Soccer. It was a bit of an experiment of prototyping controls that we could use in our games, but by Christmas it looked like it might become something unique in its own right. To be fair it had its ups and downs over the course of development, but we managed to get it out just before the European Championships, and it really captured the attention of … Continue reading

Happy Birthday First Touch Games!

ftg_black_red_square_flat_512

It’s our 1st birthday today, 20th September 2012 ! Exactly 1 year ago today First Touch Games officially became an independent developer, and it’s been a really great year. We’ve made some good choices, bad choices, and have learnt absolutely loads. Here are some highlights: We released four games. Two of them have done really well for us, and two of them have done more like just ok. That’s a pretty good strike rate by most iOS standards though! The two which have done well are unsurprisingly Score! and Dream League Soccer, and have hugely exceeded our expectations. The other two, Fresh Tracks Snowboarding and Euro Soccer have done fine, paid for themselves, and taught us a load of stuff in the … Continue reading

RWF: Lack of Composure

I seem to be the odd one out these days. I can’t explain it, I do closely follow club football and you can often find me infront of a TV come Saturday or Sunday at kick off. However, for me, international football will always come first. There is something special about seeing the best of your country go to battle with another. Knowing of my football patriotism, my amazing girlfriend bought us two tickets to Wembley to see England host Ukraine. So off we went for the evening in London. I have written a few articles in the past about England. I am fortunate enough for this to be my fourth visit to the new Wembley and the third time … Continue reading

First Touch Games conquer the London 10k run!

Untitled-1

A few weeks back 5 of us at First Touch Games ran the London 10k run for the brilliant Oxfordshire Charity Special Effect. For you that don’t know Special Effect is a charity dedicated to helping all young people with disabilities to enjoy computer games. For these children, the majority of computer games are simply too quick or too difficult to play, and they help them and their parents to find out which games they CAN play, and how to adapt those games that they can’t. It was great to see so many runners for Special Effect and the money raised will do so much for the Charity, we ended up raising nearly £1,000 from First Touch Games alone which … Continue reading

RWF: Managing Expectations

Roy Hodgson

Life as an England fan has been tough down the years. I have heard countless excuses in this time such as luck, the players are not good enough, there is no passion, there is no belief, the manager is not good enough, the officials were poor. The truth is probably a combination of the above. In short, England have not gone far in a major tournament because they have not played well enough. I am not about to offer a reason for this and claim I know the magic formula to change this, here’s hoping that Hodgson does! The team has been by no means perfect, but I want to look at the positives. Roy Hodgson has never managed a … Continue reading
