It’s our 2nd birthday today, 20th September 2013 ! It’s now 2 years since First Touch Games officially started (or officially became independent). Our first year was fantastic – read about it here – but this year has been amazing. Here are the highlights. November saw Score! win a TIGA award for the Best Casual game by a small studio. . December saw Score! get included by Apple in their 12 Days of Christmas promotion. It was a paid game then, and it was made free for the period, and specifically promoted on the 27th December. As a result of the promotion over the period, it hit the top of the charts in countless counties and achieved over 5 million … Continue reading
We had a decent amount of coverage for our big update to Score!, and here are a couple of articles worth reading. The first is an interview / article by pocketgamer.biz on the download numbers for Score!. http://www.pocketgamer.biz/r/PG.Biz/First+Touch+Games+news/news.asp?c=50392 We’re well over 10 million downloads now following the update, which of course, we’re massively pleased with! The next is a more business focused article written by me, for games-biz site gamesbrief.com, on FTG passing 20 million downloads. http://www.gamesbrief.com/2013/05/20-million-downloads-later-what-first-touch-games-has-learned-about-free-to-play/ Here are a few more bits of recent coverage for Score! around the web: Score! awarded T3’s hottest app of the month! It’s our 1st birthday today, 20th September 2012 ! Exactly 1 year ago today First Touch Games officially became an independent developer, and it’s been a really great year. We’ve made some good choices, bad choices, and have learnt absolutely loads. Here are some highlights: We released four games. Two of them have done really well for us, and two of them have done more like just ok. That’s a pretty good strike rate by most iOS standards though! The two which have done well are unsurprisingly Score! and Dream League Soccer, and have hugely exceeded our expectations. The other two, Fresh Tracks Snowboarding and Euro Soccer have done fine, paid for themselves, and taught us a load of stuff in the … Continue reading
A few weeks back 5 of us at First Touch Games ran the London 10k run for the brilliant Oxfordshire Charity Special Effect. For you that don’t know Special Effect is a charity dedicated to helping all young people with disabilities to enjoy computer games. For these children, the majority of computer games are simply too quick or too difficult to play, and they help them and their parents to find out which games they CAN play, and how to adapt those games that they can’t. It was great to see so many runners for Special Effect and the money raised will do so much for the Charity, we ended up raising nearly £1,000 from First Touch Games alone which … Continue reading
Another long gap between blog entries, but we’re about to announce and release our new game, so I thought it about time we wrote something. So firstly what have we been up to? Snowboarding Back in March we released Fresh Tracks Snowboarding, which was a bit of a change for us, but has had a great reception. It’s nice sometimes to do something a bit different, and get out of your comfort zone, and I’m sure we’ll keep mixing up the football releases with other stuff in the future. Dream League Soccer Also, obviously, we’ve been busy supporting Dream League Soccer, which is doing really well for us. We’re well over a million downloads now which although well off the … Continue reading

We’re sure most of you have New Years Resolutions to be more charitable! If that is the case then please donate! Remember every little helps 🙂 http://www.justgiving.com/firsttouchgames10k/ We shall be posting pictures and race times after the event!
It’s a bit late, but here’s a quick review of 2011 from First Touch Games. Here are the highlights … The biggest change of the year was that we started life as Team First Touch, part of Exient, and finished as fully independent First Touch Games. We released First Touch Soccer in May. FTS was without doubt the team’s biggest achievment of 2011. It was critically acclaimed, currently with a metacritic score of 90%, which I think it the highest reviewing game I’ve been involved in. It was number one in various App Stores around the world, ahead of the likes of Angry Birds, in countries including the UK, Italy & Japan. There are things I’d change if I had … Continue reading
It’s been a long time since we’ve had any kind of blog entry here, and since then quite a lot has happened. Probably the biggest thing is that Team First Touch is now an independent developer. Up to now we have been a dedicated team within larger developer Exient, but as of 20th September this year we are entirely independent, as First Touch Games. In terms of what this actually means to users, it really won’t affect much. We’re still a small group of passionate football fans looking to make the best football games that we can. We still want to make games that our users want to play, and offer something different to football game players across a range … Continue reading
As much as we can and do plan for how we want things to work on any given project, you can’t truly know how well something is going to work until its implemented and working at least to a draft level. It’s the same this year with our iOS football game. We’re well into finalling now, and earlier this week we had our first proper internal focus group review of the game as it currently is. This involved everyone on the team and one or two others getting a current build of the game for an hour or so and providing feedback on their experiences. As expected, and desired, this highlighted a number of issues which, if resolved, could make … Continue reading
After being mentioned in the “This Week at TFT” related to performing some continental research across South America, I have been bombarded with emails asking how my time was spent. I was fortunate enough to visit Argentina, Chile, Peru, Paraguay and Brazil across 26 days. The biggest problem was related to the fact I travelled outside of the football season. However I still managed to come across a few football stadiums along the way. Bombonera – Home of Boca Juniors (Buenos Aires, Argentina). Has a capacity of over 60,000. Famous exports of the past include Maradona. Current captain is Riquelme, who is known across Europe for spells at Barcelona and Villarreal. Estadio Manuel Ferreira – Home of Club Olimpia (Asuncion, … Continue reading
